Summary of position:
Assist Buyer to set product strategy and assortment, work merchandising plans, identify consumer trends, collaborate with cross-category teams; develop, manage and execute against goals, budgets and objectives, and communicate merchandising strategies.

Responsibilities:
> Develops sales, gross profit and stock turn goals both monthly and annually.
> Creates space allocation, adjacencies and planograms for store sets and renovations.
> Conducts sales area visits regularly to evaluate merchandise presentation, customer demographics, stock assortments and inventory levels. Works closely with store management and personnel to address and maximize business opportunities.
> Negotiates with vendors to obtain most favorable prices, programs, co-op and allowances to achieve sales and profit objectives for basic and advertised merchandise.
> Analyzes market trends and offerings to develop and execute merchandise stock assortments, business strategies and goals for assigned merchandise departments.
> Build a working understanding of, and provide financial analysis for, the products assigned to the department.
> Answer inquiries from teammates and resolve issues that may arise related to the purchase of items from suppliers.
> Work with store management to ensure that personnel are well-trained on all products.
> Create and execute automated methods of replenishment.
Prepare monthly bulletins to communicate any product or vendor information as appropriate.
> Ensure all files and databases are maintained and updated.
> Prepare financial analysis reports on suppliers utilizing internal tools.
> Maintain liaison with suppliers, collect data and other information required for proper execution of buys.
> Participate on special projects (as assigned or self-perpetuated). Set objectives, determine action plans and set target completion dates.
> Analyze and monitor sales records, trends and economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns and determine what the company will sell and how much inventory is needed.
> Help develop and maintain variable pricing models by department and store levels.
> Coordinate co-op plans with the marketing department, responsible for the collection of all available funds.
> Determine which products should be featured in advertising.
> Monitor competitors’ sales activities by shopping their stores and following their advertisements in newspapers and other media. Knowledge of their product lines is essential.
> Regulate seasonal promotions (i.e. holiday display themes, fashion shows, special events, etc.) and coordinate them with other departments.
> Attends trade shows and markets as appropriate.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field.
2 years of experience in retail sales.
Related job experience or education.
Proficient with MS Office products (Excel, Word and Outlook).
Attention to detail, organization skills, ability to multi-task and work within deadlines.
Strong communication and project management skills.
