The Tax Manager is primarily responsible for the review of the complex tax returns, as well as providing advanced technical assistance, tax planning and research on complex tax issues.
The Tax Manager should assist in the development and training of staff. They also have a significant amount of client contact and are responsible to develop new business for the firm. Tax Managers will work closely with the shareholders in providing innovative tax planning strategies for their client base. Furthermore, the Tax Manager makes decisions on all, but also the most unusual, tax situations.
The ideal candidate criteria:
-Willing to spend time researching technical matters related to assigned engagements
-Prepare standard working papers and statements for assigned service area
-Perform technical tax review of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity
-Assume full responsibility for larger tax returns and delegate to the various tax preparers as deemed
-Act as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and Auditing and Accounting staff on specific tax issues and/or questions
-Proficient in MS Office and other Windows based software and tax software
-Delegate and manage tax research projects to achieve an accurate and efficient result
-Participate actively in client meetings and tax planning sessions to assist in development of younger team members engagements that meet the needs of our clients in an efficient and effective manner
-Prepare invoices; communicate detail of fees to clients efficiently
-Actively supervise the organization, budgeting, scheduling and effective execution of client projects
-Responsible for growing revenues with acceptable profit margins annually
-Manage and lead team members including performance reviews, feedback and counseling.
-Familiar with professional ethics of the AICPA and the State Board and applicable specialty organizations
-Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or similar field with a major in Accounting, Master’s preferred
-5 Years experience in public accounting, demonstrating a proven progression in tax return complexity, scope and research.
-1 year experience supervising and directing work of tax preparers.
-Member in good standing with the American Institute of CPA’s
-Understanding of basic income tax laws and regulations

The Tax Manager is expected to work 8am-5pm Monday to Friday outside of tax season. During tax season, additional hours are required. Excellent benefits package and 401K match.
