We have an immediate opportunity in Grand Island, Nebraska for an experienced DISPATCHER/LOGISTICS COORDINATOR! As a valued member of our transportation team, the dispatcher successfully organizes and aligns fleet operations with supplier and customer needs to ensure that all loads are delivered in a safe and timely manner. This position provides the highest quality of communication with customers and drivers. This is a fast paced work environment requiring flexibility and the ability to work with and meet deadlines.
Direct responsibilities include:
Dispatch fleet according to customer needs; monitor and organize driver, truck, trailer and supplier information to gain maximum efficiency and profitability.
Manage the inventory process for retail customers to ensure locations are kept at optimal levels as set by the customer.
Deliver the highest level of customer service and ensure employees and related services are aligned to meet customer expectations.
Develop and maintain third-party customer relationships and accounts.
Monitor markets and industry changes and communicate supplier information accordingly.
Maintain dispatch information in dedicated software systems.
Be familiar with and monitor freight rates.
Develop knowledge of all terminals, company drops, and key customer locations.
Accountable for independent decision making and negotiation for securing load rates, purchasing and coordinating logistical operations.
Participate in administrative (i.e., invoicing, driver payroll) and departmental cross training to achieve operational goals.
Communicate all safety issues with manager and safety personnel.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Preference: An individual must be able to perform or learn these essential duties satisfactorily. The list below is representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required and/or preferred.
High School HS Diploma or equivalent required; business degree or combination of education and experience preferred.
5 years’ experience working in transportation and/or a dispatch role.
Good computer skills required including MS Office (Excel, Word), Outlook and related transportation, log and dispatch software.
Excellent communication skills, ability to build trust and achieve buy-in.
Demonstrated knowledgeable and understanding of DOT rules and regulations.
Highly organized with demonstrated time management skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work independently and cohesively within a team environment.
Must be willing and available for weekend on-call rotations.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
