Our client, a leading manufacturer of light metal products, is seeking to add a full-time Shop Mechanic to their Hastings facility.
As the Shop Mechanic, you will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, tools, trailers, and industrial powered trucks by performing the following duties:
Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
Use jacks or hoists to gain access to mechanical parts.
Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
Repair or replace defective parts.
Lubricate and clean shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
Install and repair electrical apparatus on forklifts, trailers, etc.
Start devices to test their performance.
Initiate purchase order for parts and machines.
One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred
6 months related experience performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs on fleet such as trucks, trailers, forklifts, etc.
Must be able to operate a forklift
Ability to obtain trailer brake maintenance and installation certification
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
